Gapeworm or Heart Failure??

I couldn't get the Tylan today. I gave him the safeguard this morning and he seems to be gasping a little less this evening. I don't know how fast it's supposed to work, but he is still eating and drinking and in good spirits other than gasping lol. I hope he pulls through. He is a "sit on your knee and get rubbin's " type of chicken and my son loves him.

His crop was empty this morning?

Just in case - your coop has good ventilation, no ammonia smells in there, crop is emptying overnight. You haven't changed or added new bedding or mulch to your coop/run or new birds to your flock right?

Yes his crop is empty and his poop looks really nice. Their coop is clean, but he has been in isolation regardless for the past week or so. First 5 days he was in an open air coop with fresh bedding in the shelter. And now he is in my house (going on day 4 or 5) and his cage is cleaned daily. He also gets "walks" daily in some grass by my porch.

The last birds I added were a group of 8-10 week old pullets and roos about 3-4 weeks ago. I had them isolated for about 2 weeks before integrating them and they are all totally healthy. He is the only one in my whole flock (of 80+ chickens) that is having this issue.

I am starting to think he has something stuck in his throat. I was thinking gapeworm, but not much improvement since starting the safegaurd (today is day 3), then I was thinking heart problems, but he is still very active, alert, runs around and pecks. I am figuring if he has some sort of internal issue, he would atleast slow down and be lethargic, but he is not. He still shows no signs of respiratory issues besides the gasping. His nose is clear, eyes are clear and alert, etc.

I gave him some coconut oil today to hope it lubes up his throat if something was caught in it. Is there anything else I could try? I dont feel anything in his throat or see anything in the back of his mouth.

He isnt "sick" enough for me to feel comfortable with euthanizing him just yet, he is a fighter for sure.
 
Put your ear on the side of his chest and listen closely for a "clicking" sound, no matter how faint it might be. (Heart valve issue.)
Also listen for a "whistling" sound. Let us know what you hear. (Ruptured air sac.)
I know did you did this before, but now you know what to listen for. Please let us know what you hear, if anything.
