Gapeworm or Respiratory Illness?

How much does she weigh?

-Kathy
I just weighed her with a digital scale and she is 4lbs 3oz. She is a 1 year old ISA Brown. Also I forgot to mention I am home alone for a couple weeks and the first couple of times i gave her medication orally (Tylan and safeguard) she was not having it. She would go a little crazy afterwords which either means she hated the taste or maybe went down her airways? So i started mixing the medication with crushed graham crackers and she gobbles it up no problem. I actually started doing 0.75cc to make up for any that stuck on the side of the bowl. If you need additional detail on poop, its still very runny and green. Thanks!

How many days di you give Safeguard? And how big was the "pea" size? Look at this picture and tell me which size:

I've given her safeguard everyday since Wednesday. The firs two times though I don't think she ate it all, that's why I started to mix it with graham Crackers. The pea size is in between the first and second one's pictured.

Okay... let me do some math, lol. I don't think she has gapeworms, but you should know what worms will be killed with the amounts you gave.

Here are some pictures that should help you medicate:

The hole at the back of the tongue is the entrnce to the trachea - Nothing should ever go in there!

Thanks again for all your help. I actually purchased a medical tube that goes on the end of the syringe to hopefully get back far enough. The trouble is when I'm doing this alone, it can be difficult which is why i started mixing with the food. Are you thinking the bird is not getting enough tylan 50 when mixed with food? Since this morning is day 5 of medication, should I stop for a while? Still keep her quarantined?

Thanks,

Nick

Watch these videos:
Crop feeding videos

These are using a crop needle, not a plastic tube.

This one uses a tube like I use

Okay, that helps a bit, but since I've been medicating now for 5 days, should I continue to medicate with these directions? or do I need to stop for a while? Maybe I can stop the worming because she has had no issue eating the worming stuff mixed with graham crackers. I just want to make sure I don't do more consecutive days than i'm supposed to.

Thanks,

Nick

So yesterday was day 5 of the medication so I have stopped. Again she is acting very normal and looks normal, but still has the weird sound when she breaths (which is in the video above). Looking for advice of whether I should use a different medication? Wait a while? Keep her quarantined? I just know I read not to medicate for more than 5 days, but never saw how long to stop before starting up again.

Thanks,

Nick
