7month old golden sebright. Symptoms: gaping, lethargic. We were gone most of the day but she was fine around 12 and found her gaping in nesting box around 7. No injuries. Stools are fine. Husband thought she was going broody I’ll insert the picture from yesterday. No gape worm. No fleas/mites. Nothing we can see causing this. Crops is good as well. She perked up after a little water mixed with electrolytes, brown sugar, vitamins and digestive enzymes. Any ideas? Not egg bound either. Everyone else is completely normal.

Did she lay an egg? If not, then I'd give her 1Calcium Citrate+D3 tablet once daily for 3 days.

See that her crop is emptying.

She may have just gotten some food stuck in her airway, hard to know. Work on hydration and see that she's eating.

Her crop is definitely emptying, I’m unsure when she laid last because I don’t know who lays what but she’s definitely not egg bound, I usually give calcium in my mix of emergency meds so she did receive some. She has eaten and drank but she’s worse for sure. I’m honestly stumped. She’s on the decline so right now I’m just keeping her comfortable and warm until she passes.

I'm sorry she's getting worse.

Update: it took a lot of digging these last few days, Chibi’s symptoms were delayed, I did find a few posts with similar symptoms and once she started showing symptoms we narrowed it down and treated accordingly. Her crop had apparently went sour. I believe she went broody(I have two other broody currently), got hot and probably dehydrated and that’s what caused her to get sour opposed to impacted. She didn’t noticeably smell sour until the next day (I usually smell it in there poop before their breath) and then turned into thrush. She was making huge strides but unfortunately she’s a young bantam without any extra weight on her so she lost so much weight so fast. She fought so hard and I fought with her but passed away today day six. The sour was gone yesterday, gaping was gone two days ago and she was being as active as she could be but her poor body couldn’t keep up. I will be doing a necropsy after work to verify. Treatment was: monistat 2x a day, digestive enzymes, probiotics, acv. I love my bantams and quail but they are terrible when they get sick since they are so small.

I'm sorry to hear about Chibi:hugs

Thank you for the update. Let us know if you find by doing the necropsy.

Last and final update.
Cut into Chibiast night. Necropsy (at home) had nothing significant. No yeast, everything looked good, the smallest amount of fluid was around her heart, otherwise I’m sticking with vit deficiency's/weightloss/starvation due to SC. These damn birds stress me out.
