I think one coop was plenty for me--so probably won't be a next time!!!! I thought of the run off problem, but it wouldn't work to reverse the sides because the nest box is on the high side. Actually we had a good 3 inches of rain this weekend and no soggy run yet
But I am planning to add a gutter on the back anyway---with a rain barrel LOL. It is also going to get its shingles soon and flashing on the front edge. Already have made a honeysuckle heart wreath that is attached to the front by the door. I'll have to post a couple pics when it is really, truely, finally done---
I had to think of it beause we live in NE Ohio and sometimes it rains so hard that the gutters and the downspout just totally overflow. but its a beautiful coop nonethe less. I like the over all flow.
No problem. Suggestions are always appreciated, as someone else might try to build this little coop too! The pen could have gone on any side(except the nest box side as it is fixed) if I wanted to change the location, but I just couldn't find a better spot for the coop---it is right outside my kitchen window! So now I need to attach a gutter since I stubbornly would not move it.
I know what you mean about the rains. I live in Indiana where we have had torrential rains this year (kind of hindered the building process) and our town was a disaster with FEMA showing up--and they are still here. Fortunately the chicks and I are on a hill high in the woods.
