What were the seeds? Are you planting on the surface or covering? Most germinate better on the surface.

3 Big Beef tomatoes and 3 early girl tomatoes. This is the first time I've used pelleted seed from anyone other than johnny's and it was what ever seed wally world sells. EVERYTHING else in the tray is up, so I have to remove the cover and hope. I'm also paying the price for not finding my four foot grow light. I'm using two one foot lites that are working but all plants on the outside perimeter are spindly. Problem with moving, they are in a box somewhere that hasn't been unpacked.

I've never had pelleted tomato seeds. I would guess it's as LG said, it takes time to break down the coating.

I always start my seeds in 4 inch pots in a mass planting, than transplant into single cells when they all get their first set of true leaves so I don't have the problem you are experiencing.

Folks, can anyone educate me on pelleted seed? I set my seeds last week in the house, with heat mats and grow lights... Pretty much everything has sprouted but my pelleted seed. Am I going to lose those plants or will they sprout? I had to take the tops off as everyone else was growing like crazy.
You need to keep them good and wet. I think those pellets are made with clay dust and if not very wet, will not break through.
