Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

What did you use for a substrate for the plants to grow in? I've bought some clay balls (not sure what they are called, they are about 1/2" diameter.) But, since then, have tabled the idea till I have the time, space, and mental energy to put into doing it right, and learning the system. I'm a confirmed DIYer, so... tend to make things quite complicated cause I'd rather learn how to make it myself than buy a ready to go set up.

Love the raised Beds would love to do that but how do you keep the wood from rotting is there plastic between wood and dirt.

After my first knee replacement last year we converted my free formed raised beds into really raised beds. They were so easy to garden in.

My cucumbers were grown on a cattle panel arch for extra easy picking.

There's nothing, it is pressure treated lumber. If a board rots it will be easy enough to replace. I think the lumber will outlast me though. I said if it comes to that I guess I'm done.

I am always painting something. Almost always have paint on my clothes or hands.
Today i did not paint the holders i made for water dishes for the rabbits. Their water bottles are freezing. I wonder what temperature those little personal coffee warmers heat to?
This is what i made....

Those bunnies are great manure makers for the garden unless the dog eats the poo first

Now and then, I wonder if raising rabbits would be a good addition to the freezer for an easy source of meat. Yet one more "bucket list item".

Thanks. Ever heard of the practice of putting worms in that substrate to help keep things stabalized?

Yes, apparently the meat breeds grow quite quickly . I need to build more cages. I like the looks of Californians. And Flemish. Not sure if i like meat from them, never had the opportunity to eat it. I hear it is all dark meat.

They all grow quickly. My 3-4 month old bunnies are bigger than their dad already and heading for their mom's size. Not sure why they aren't more popular for meat, probably because they are cute.

Well plus, you can't buy rabbit meat at most grocery stores so no one knows where to get it.
