I have Rheumatoid Arthritis along with Osteoarthritis. It's hard to garden on flat ground. I use cinder blocks for my raised beds. They take a bit of work to get them set up unless you have a nice level area. They hold up very well. Also gives you a place to sit and take a rest when needed. Adding arches gives me a shady place to sit when I start getting hot.

I have 6 of these in my garden. My first year to use them and I have no complaints. I have a smaller one I've used for a few years in front of my chicken coop. I will be moving it this winter to a new location.

If you don't have a lot of room, containers work well also. I grow peppers & tomatoes on my porch in large pots.
@oldhenlikesdogs ~ I've never had a knee replaced, but my Mom has had both of hers done. I understand what you are going through. I know the pain can be almost unbearable. I pray you heal quickly with as little pain as possible.
