I found this site the other day while I was looking for a few fruit trees if anyone is interested. He start's the prices at $3.00 each.

Noticed they're sold out of paw paw. I have stratified seeds in my fridge if some one interested. PM me if want to swap something interesting.

I spread spores for Wine Cap mushrooms in my BTE garden last year, and had a few hand fulls of mushrooms. I'm hoping that the bed will continue to produce next season. I also saved a few spore prints and will try to use them to start a new bed.
It is easier than you might think to harvest edible wild mushrooms and propagate them. Only 2 more months to morels in Maryland! Once I find good edible mushrooms then any spores and trimmings are put into an appropriately identical environment to promote that strain into a new location. Of course this is not commercial scale. But maybe in awhile. Been learning 1 year so far from MAW-DC group meetings and forays with pantry and freezer-full success!

I've been quietly lurking, but all the talk of eating bunnies scared me away... now that were talking veggies again, .... I'm back!
We moved to a new place in September, and apparently there are a ton of Morels here in our woods. Ive never eaten or even seen one (except on google) but I've never met a mushroom I didn't love... I would love to hear all about how you can spread the spores to grow a whole forest full of Morels!!!

Lovely garden box ideas with those wood pallets. We have a wood pallet factory not too far away and they always have a huge pile of wood and pallets that didn't make the grade (up for grabs in the parking lot). Great way to make use of them! Im thinking of adding some outdoor nest boxes for my hens while they free range thru the orchard and garden- the pallet wood will be good for that too!

There is so much space here (moved from a small city lot of 33 ft x 122 ft) to 27 acres, so I'm a bit overwhelmed with too many ideas and plans.... have to plan carefully because I really dont have much of a budget this year, dont want to make mistakes and then have to move and re-do things next year, and want to go slow and get it right.

Im thinking I need to build/do:
1. compost area
2. fenced veggie area (there are no fences anywhere)-- but do i need fencing?????
3. raised beds (leaving room for expanding) but how high to raise them??
4. secondary garden where I can grow squash, and other veggies you harvest last and that sprawl- maybe asparagus here or someplace else?
5. smaller garden near my chicken coop where I can grow things they like, and beneficial herbs
6. need to prune orchard after I learn how- no one has done it yet, ever
7. plant a few quince trees and maybe two types of apple (i apparently have cherry, peach, plum, pear and one other type of mystery tree)

I'm exhausted just thinking about it. I am hoping I will feel more energized when spring hits.

There :duc I think Ive used my word allotment for the day.
Happy Friday!

Im thinking I need to build/do:
1. compost area ( 3 pallets in a u shape)
2. fenced veggie area (there are no fences anywhere)-- but do i need fencing????? (Yes, the wild animals love veggies and WILL go to great lengths to eat yours. Pallets can make a great fence, just get some fence posts in to attach them to)
3. raised beds (leaving room for expanding) but how high to raise them?? ( It depends on your needs, if you have a bad back they need to be higher. Again, folks do use pallets for beds.) Mine are raised about 8 inches atm but i am looking at doubling that at least.
4. secondary garden where I can grow squash, and other veggies you harvest last and that sprawl- maybe asparagus here or someplace else? ( my pigs planted pumpkins and the plants grew up a tree. It was a challenge to pick the pumpkins. Look for a sunny bank where nothing else is going on and plant there. Going to be a lot of that here this year. )
5. smaller garden near my chicken coop where I can grow things they like, and beneficial herbs ( There is an interesting way to grow things inside the run to be found on Byc)
6. need to prune orchard after I learn how- no one has done it yet, ever ( i bet someone in BYC has experience pruning fruit trees. Maybe even yours truly)
7. plant a few quince trees and maybe two types of apple (i apparently have cherry, peach, plum, pear and one other type of mystery tree) you go!

I'm exhausted just thinking about it. I am hoping I will feel more energized when spring hits. (Just prioritize and tackle one job at a time. You got this. You would faint if you saw what we have done since we moved here in May. My spring project, build a greenhouse)
