Old news that is not true.

Burpee discontinued it quite a few years back. Unfortunately no one else picked it up. I had a number of discussions with Burpee about it. It is the best large short season tomato they ever had. It is also one of the most disease resistant tomatoes there is.

They only get to keep exclusive rights for so many years. When time runs out they push a new variety and all you can hope for is that someone else picks it up.

This happened last year with Burpee's Snow Crown cauliflower. In this case other vendors did pick up Snow Crown cauliflower but it is no longer called Burpee's.

The company that was producing the Jersey Giant line of asparagus dropped it in favor of Millennium. Fortunately someone else is now selling Jersey Giant. Either that or someone bought up all the Jersey Giant seed like Dixondale Farms did with Copra Onion seeds and will continue the line until they run out of seeds.

Hmm, maybe I should market my hybrid asparagus seeds. They produce delightful asparagus shoots with a slightly different flavor.
