Gardening for Quail!

What’s a good live plant to put inside of a quail run? And do you keep any plants in your garden to feed to your quail?

Any of the lawn grasses would be good. Planting wild birdseed in a container is liked by most birds as is spray millet.

My quail mostly leave these alone: lemongrass, rosemary, lemon verbena, lavender, peppermint, butterfly bush, impatiens, and coleonema pulchellum (confetti busy/breath of heaven). Other plants are fine once they grow beyond the quails' reach.

They devour these: mint, basil, alyssum, kale, cauliflower, all sorts of sprouts, dandelions, woodsorrel, and other weeds. And they love all kinds of seeds.

My quails absolutely tear up micro greens and they will rip apart Kentucky grass to bed in. They also love basil, which is easy because it grows quickly.
