Gardening/Seed Swap Thread, Do Yer Yappin' Here

People on this chain send things out in bunches to combine shipping of several items at once. Personally, I ship about twice per month for this chain because it seems I always have the same 2-3 people claiming my items & I can mail them all together that way. That also makes it so I am not constantly digging plants. I can gather them all at once on a day the weather cooperates.

As for claiming something, this is a chain. The rules clearly state to claim an item you post "mine" & make your offer in the same post. The 1st person who does this gets the offer. The chain shouldn't be held up for 10-12 hours or more waiting on someone to get back to claim an offer once their question has been not only asked, but also answered. If you miss an item you want, you can always PM the person who had the offer & see if you can make a side swap for it. I have found people to be extremely accommodating in this area on not only this chain but a lot of the others as well.

I didn't realize the mistake I had made against Erin. I really didn't mean to do it. I did send out her swap, it was two days later than I had said I would because she had claimed some irises after I had already gotten the artichokes packed up. It was raining like crazy so I had to wait until the next day to dig up the irises. She should have gotten them today if not tomorrow. I even sent her an extra packet of surprise seeds for being one of the 100th swappers. I am not by any means a put together or efficient person. I have two kids under the age of 5 and about 5 brooders full of chicks and two horses and three jobs. Sometimes things get behind, but I always get caught up. There is never any offense or blowing off meant.

I completely understand Renee. I've had 9 brooders going at once here.

My kids are a little older, but not much. With 300+ birds plus other animals to take care of, kids, fiance, trying to build coops, remodeling a house, etc, I by no means can take time every single time I claim a swap to go dig plants & ship them immediately. That's why I just flat out tell everyone: Swaps for plants, soaps (anything but eggs) go out about twice per month so I can combine as many orders at once as possible. I can't take time to make just 1 bar of soap 3-4 times per week. I wait until I have 10-12 to do at once so I don't have to pull all of my molds & supplies out every time I turn around. I take up the kitchen counter, table & top of the icebox for HOURS every time I make soap so I only do it as often as I HAVE to to keep my family from yelling about me being in their way again...LOL Plants get dug when weather cooperates at the beginning of the month & again mid-month. I rarely "forget" an order, but sometimes I have to rearrange the order they get filled in if birds don't cooperate & I have other stuff that needs shipped with the eggs.

Yeah I go to the po once a week if that...I have even told people to ship my stuff once a month if they need to. I havent swapped much cause I just dont have time right now...and if I do ive been sending PP...lol. (im the lazy swapper..:0)

Mine really isn't the PO issue because most of my packages I just have picked up. Mine is taking the time to make items or dig up plants & then trying to ship as cheaply as possible by combining multiple swaps into 1 package. When you have limited time AND limited budget you save time & money both wherever you can.

A little damage but 3/4 still viable. Thank good ness for huge gallop strides!!

I don't know much about saving seeds, but I can learn. I might have baby hostas around, or curly mint soon.

Happy swapping!!
