Gargling/Gurgling Nosie Chicken

My pullet Boogers (named for having boogers) has a resp. problem aswell. She's had it for a couple months and I can't afford nor have the time to get the medicine.
Now Boogers has a swollen lump near her beak just under the eye, a little foward of the eye actually. She's doing great though but I do refrain from touching her booger-fied beak.

I had this too when i introduced 9 new hens into my flock. All 9 ended up passing on, but I had to put Duramycin-10 in their water for 1-2 weeks (about 2-3 tsp per gal of water) for it to clear up. They were gurgling, sneezing, wheezing and kind of runny poop. I talked to my vet and she said that it was a respiratory thing that the best way to treat it without losing too many more chickens is to give them antibiodics. I didn't want to only because we are transitioning organic dairy farm but unless i wanted 60 dead chickens she said just isolate them and give it to them to save them so I did and they are a lot better. They are finally not all sick thankfully. I went 2 months without getting an egg because of the illness and i'm in NY so its darn cold outside! but we moved them inside the barn after they became healthy and now i'm getting over a dozen a day (some are still coming out of molt). and my rooster is finally crowing again! Hope that helps a little

Hi eatcud,
How are the chickens doing? Were you able to get some antibiotics or are you going to go that route?
good luck.
