Hello, as per tittle. I put a crunch of garlic into water for chickens. I believe garlic has benefit for chickens or am I wrong ?

Too much onion can cause a off taste to the eggs. I stopped feeding my hens anything with alot of onion in it because it really does happen. Same with fish - fishy eggs are not good eggs.
What benefit are you hoping for by adding onion?

Feed garlic only in small amounts. You may notice a change of taste in your eggs if you feed it long enough.

I’m always leary about feeding this to chickens because it changes the taste of the eggs.
Out of curiosity, what benefits have you heard about garlic?

I done some research, and some of them state that https://www.raising-happy-chickens.com/garlic-benefits-for-chickens.html

"Chicken keepers have used raw garlic for years to help ward off a whole list of poultry ailments including respiratory problems, infection, and as a general support to the immune system"

correct me if I'm wrong.
