Well we have always been a little gas price weary here. Driving an F250 has it's drawbacks. But a must if you have a farm. Don't make extra trips, combine them into one or two outings a week. Hubby picks up the groceries on his way home from work. Have decided to cut out a lot of Poultry shows, just can't make enough in the sales area to justify spending hundreds in gas, hotels, entries & food! Have had more people want to ship birds,it's cheaper, than drive out & get their new birds.

So how has the gas monster changed your daily life?

I'm already dreading the fuel bills from farming this spring thru fall. Winter we don't use as much....only for cattle chores.....but the rest of the year is a different story.

I try to only go to town once a week for groceries or if I have to make a parts run I'll stop and get groceries then rather than make another trip.

My Opinion.

I work 5.2 miles away.. As the weather becomes nice, I'll be biking to work.

lol @ the pic
I'm going out less often and spending more time with the chickens. I also hate that the lowest priced gas here is $4.19.

The chicken feed was up $3.00 today to almost $20.00/50# (from $17/50#). We're also trying to combine our trips..even with a two door Yaris we hate the gas bill!!

I no longer drive to the store with the lowest price, I drive to the one that is closest even if they are a bit higher. You cant even waste precious fuel to get a better deal!LOL WTHey!

Wondering what would happen if everyone on BYC would stay home and watch the chickens peck for a few days, would we knock a dent in the gas company profits?

My boyfriend drives 1-2 hours (depending on traffic) to work every day. Thats a LOOOOONG way.

But if we lived closer to the city we'd be lucky to afford a shoddy apartment in a crap neighborhood. But its worth the sacrifices, we love our little farm and the peace & quiet that comes with it. Well, quiet at night anyhow!

I can answer this from the point of public transit. At work our unleaded fuel bill went from 63K to 83K in one month. We use no diesel and mostly compressed natual gas that runs about 78 cents a gallon (using a therm conversion).

Personally, I am lucky enough to live 5 minutes from work. Again there is that weirdness where I can have all these farm animals be seconds from town. Heck I am IN town. Gotta love rules that never change!!!
