Gas strike tomorrow. Anyone else heard about this?

You've piqued my curiosity. What "should" gas cost? And why?

A share of Exxon/Mobile costs less than a pair of shoes, less than a dinner out with my family, less than a tank of gas in my truck, less than a dozen hatching eggs from a good breeder.

Do you own a computer? A digital camera? A car? Are you overweight? If you think you're poor I could post some photos from Zimbabwe and Haiti that would make you feel better.

When companies are making "Record profits" something doesn't seem right. I know it has to go up, however, they raise it for "anticipation of summer driving, and POSSIBLE supply and demand issues". This is quotes from our National news.

.

One share today was a little over $89 at closing, not sure about you but I don't spend that much on shoes. Nor eggs. And as I said, to make a profit, you need more than one share. More than two, etc.....

I didn't say I was poor, and in fact mentioned that I am actually fortunate compared to others. I don't need to see pictures to know what those countries and people are going through. But I am also worried about the one I live in and knowing what our families are having to do to make ends meet. The backbone of America is being forced out of running business 'casue they can't afford it any more. It's a domino effect. I don't even know how Zimbabwe brings a point to the conversation. I guess I missed something in your "lesson", sorry.

Whatever point you were trying to make . The majority of the average American family is struggling. And the bottom line common denomenator is gas.

Sooo... gas should stay cheap because you want a lot of it? I don't think that's how a free-market economy works.

In a capitalist system, companies are supposed to be profitable. They don't last long if they aren't. If the hypothetical "s6bee Company" was making record profits, would you be somehow immoral? Success isn't wrong. If you want other people to subsidize your lifestyle, that's called "socialism" or "parasitism".

?? If one share isn't making a profit, how are a million going to? I own a few shares, and they're making a profit.

If the average American family is struggling, it's because they have the American disease: Going into debt to buy things they don't need.

I don't like paying for gas, either, but I don't think Exxon or anybody else owes me. Instead of trying to blame somebody for peak oil, I bought a car that gets 50 mpg and I heat with wood.

Oil is going to get more and more scarce, difficult to produce, and expensive. It's not the fault of the oil companies, it's our fault for using and wasting so much of it. We need to learn to adjust instead of complain.

I'll take your $52 for the honda accord and raise you my $80 for a dodge truck... Sometimes, depending on how much I've traveled, this is my weekly expense. Needless to say, I do try not to drive unless I absolutely have to. However, I still have a 50 mile round trip commute 5 days a week...

No, ma'am, thank you very much! I'm so thankful I sold my Explorer (Exploder) last year and got the Honda. Still, my first car was a Nissan Maxima. It cost me less than $15 to fill it up. I'm comparing that to today's prices, whereas it costs me $52!!!

When I go to school in the fall, I'm going to a university 50 miles away, so that might hurt, however, the one I'm attending now is about 20 miles away, but I have to bring my daughter 10 miles to school, then turn around and head back south, so maybe it will even out, especially if I get only MWF classes, like I want.
