My Sussex hen is gasping for air. You can hear her beathing if our quiet and her body moves with her breathes so that means she is brething hard. She is on a cycle where every second she opens her mouth for air. She walks a little and still yells but less then ussual. I isolated her for her breathing not because the other birds were picking on her (They left her alone.) She squats which she doesn't always do and her eyes sometimes close and her head falls a little. I read that it might be cornish X but she is about half a year old and she hasn't grown abnormaly for a sussex. Also she hasn't been laying recently.

I'm so sorry - is her crop full? What color is her comb? I used the BYC Search bar to search "gasping" and here are just a few links that might help you. I've never treated a chicken for this so I can't offer first-hand advice. Good luck with her.

Thank you for your help. I isolated her and after a while she began to breathe normally. Within a few hours she was back with the girls.
