I got the gazebo!!! For a steal. $800 total. 4 for the gazebo itself, 4 for transport. I couldn’t have found a better deal, and the transporter was so professional. He had it up on his trailer within 15 minutes, and drove it the 45 minutes home with no issues
When I saw this thing, I knew it would make a gorgeous coop. But now that I have it home, I’m drawing a blank for ideas. In my head I envisioned replacing all the screen with hardware cloth, and that would suffice for perfect sunny days. But I live in western New York and we literally could have days that are in the 30’s and snowing to 80 and sunny the next (don’t laugh, it just happened last week šŸ˜‚). If anyone has any ideas (lookin at you coop conversion gurus), anything at all, whether for functionality and beauty, send em my way please and thanks! I’ll be starting with the obvious facelift, scraping/sanding and repainting. I’m not worried about the roof right now, the floor is dry and in perfect condition so replacing the shake shingles will be a later project

You see that ventilation at the top? that is AWESOME. AWE. SOME. DO NOT GET RIDE OF IT.

I'd put wood in place of screens anywhere in red, and use the corner bits that are cut out as more ventilation. I'd put wood behind those nice sunrise patterns, and put a pop door in one. i'd also put a window in the door.

Score!

Is that cupola function or can it be? That's great ventilation there. I would use hardware cloth around the top 6 inches of the entire thing. Then, add functional windows on all sides and enclose the rest. Your eaves should stop most rain and snow. Maybe replace the screen door with a storm door. Lots of light, can open the window if needed, and more weather proof that what you have.

I know!!! The ventilation possibilities of this bad boy are unreal. I definitely planned on leaving the top holes on the roof uncovered and putting hardware cloth on them. There’s even another cupola that is screwed on top, we just took it off for transport. I hate to enclose everything because it’s just so darn pretty the way it is, but I know that has to happen in order to make it a comfy home for the girls

If you paint the new wood (to enclose it) black and put it behind the existing structure of the gazebo, you will still have the look of a gazebo but the security of an enclosure. You could even make some of that wood removable for the summer time to get better air flow, just use hardware cloth then the wood to enclose it. You can also paint the hardware cloth black to make it disappear as well.

That gazebo was a great score, and it's going to be beautiful!
