So true or false... Does it really take geese 2 years to lay and produce fertile eggs?

The only geese that I know of that take that long to start breeding is Dewlap geese because they are so large and take time to mature. Most other geese can lay the next year when they are a year old.So true or false... Does it really take geese 2 years to lay and produce fertile eggs?
I don´t let my geese hatch out their first year eggs because they´re small. The geese are small, the eggs are small, but they did lay and did go broody. I´ve no idea if they were fertile or not. This year, the second year, they laid and hatched some nice-sized eggs and had healthy goslings.So true or false... Does it really take geese 2 years to lay and produce fertile eggs?
