Hi All!

My neighbors have 12 guineas that wander for miles. About three weeks ago, they came to our house, jumped our livestock fence, and scared my two Toulouse geese. One goose flew over the fence and went missing for over two hours. I was a mess. I've told the neighbors to try to keep their guineas on their property, but it's basically impossible. I have clipped my gooses wings, so they can no longer fly. I'm leaving for three days and a petsitter will be checking in periodically. Do you think the geese will be fine to free range in their usual fenced in area? Or should I keep them locked in their 10x10 dog kennel? What would you do? I've tried putting solar powered dog bark deterrent machines all over to scare the guineas when they wander over, but it really doesn't work. I live on 40acres completely surrounded by woods, yet they still find a way over every 5 days or so...thanks for your input!

Im not familiar with keeping geese, but if the geese would be reasonably comfortable locked in that might be best while gone.
I have multiple chicken coops and a duck pen. Every vacation I have to decide easiest for sitters, safest for animals, and finally comfort for animals.
One of my coops is to crowded in the sleeping area for day time, so I have that coop opened and shut for night while gone. The other goes on lockdown while gone. The lockdown is preferred by sitters. Easier for them, and less worry that something will happen on their watch.

I agree with this. Pet sitters want nothing more than to give back the farm exactly as they found it.

Maybe your goose will get used to the guineas? There is no reasonable way to keep the guineas on a parcel of land with boundaries designated by humans.

lol maybe you could get your own guineas and then the geese won't mind!

😄
