my adult geese are disappearing with out a trace. They are free to roam within a area with a 6 foot fence. My geese are large but there is not even a feather left behind. Help !

:welcome

They weren't black and brown with a white cheek patch were they? If so, I have an idea...

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. That is a mystery though. I have only been reading up on geese lately, haven't gotten my own yet, but it might help to know what breed you have. I was reading that some smaller breeds can fly a little. Is the fence electrified? If not, what material is it made of?

It sounds like they could possibly be jumping your fence or getting out. I know it sounds crazy, but you would be shocked how high a determined goose can jump/fly (depending on the breed). I recommend looking around in your neighborhood and seeing if you get any leads. What breed are your geese?

How long have they been on your property?Geese generally wont wander off your property unless they feel scared/Threatened by something. Unless you have a light weight breed i doubt they could get over a six foot fence.Foxes and coyotes can kill full grown geese they sometimes leave no trace of an attack.

They are kept in a large pasture with 6 foot fence all around. Other answers to other people. I live in the NW, north and east of Seattle. I have had geese for years (20?). The ones I'm missing are full grown Toulouse who have been living here their whole lives. They can't fly. The coyote kills have always left a trail of feathers. Raccoons eat the neck and gallate and leave the rest. Weasels can't take them away because of the size. We don't have foxes in this area. They did take a Muscovy off of her nest last night and she was in a small bldg without a door.

A large coyote could probably kill a full grown Toulouse and carry it off. I bet they could my female I doubt they could get over a 6' fence with one though. Reason I was asking if you had a gate on your fencing if possibly they were being poached?

I know foxes can jump 6ft fencing. But they might of dug under your fencing i would check the perimeter for a signs of entrance. Why do you say there is no foxes in your area,You just haven't seen one yet?Foxes are everywhere across the united states and will sometimes find food in the city so i wouldn't rule a fox out yet.I just put 3 trail cams around my property and caught a fox on them.If i wouldn't of set them up i would of had no clue that there was a fox around.
