Is five weeks too early to tell gender? If not what do I look for?
You can often tell some of the males at that age, but not be certain of the gender of every chick.
Among a batch of chicks, the ones with bigger redder combs at that age are usually males.
But some males mature more slowly, so it can take quite a while before you know for sure which are females and which are just slow males.
