Hi,

I took in these two chicks from a hatching program that was conducted at my school. I have no real information on them. Can anyone let me know if they are a pullet or cockerel and what breed they may be? I posted earlier but they were a bit too young, they are about 9 weeks old right now.

Thank you!
Cindy

I suspect the are both crossbreds as most classroom chicks are and neither of them look like definitive pure breeds to me. As far as sex they look like a coin toss to me. They do have a lot of comb and wattle growth for 9 weeks, but not enough for me to say they are cockerels for certain.

I second the motion, they look like barn yard mix and could be both pullets or cockerels since they are mix might be too early to tell, 12 to 14 wks you’ll have a winner.

The white blackish one is a cockerel and the red one is a pullet.
I think the white blackish one is a mixed breed and the red
looks like a Production red.
