Sorry, I just noticed your last question. You can tell she's molting by how scraggly she looks. She missing quite a few feathers, especially around her tail and hackles. That coupled with the time of year says molt. Either that or she's got something else going on, but molt is most likely. Have you checked them for parasites yet?
The guy that sold you them has no idea what an Ameraucana is. He likely ordered the parent stock from a hatchery. And most hatcheries sell their Easter Eggers as Ameraucana. And most people honestly believe that that is what they are getting. The never bother to figure it out for themselves.Wow I just spoke to the guy a couple hours ago where I bought these chickens and he swore up and down they were both 5-6 months old and that they were both Ameraucanas.
So I just spoke to the guy a couple hours ago where I bought these chickens and he swears they are both 5-6 months old and that they are both Ameraucanas. He said whoever told me the hen is a mix breed and the rooster is a Easter egger is misinformed. He swears they are full bred Ameraucanas and 5-6 months old. He also said they are not molting. He at least admitted they may have mistook the rooster for a pullet....But I won't be buying from this place again!
Hey your hen looks like mine in some aspects! However mines a mix too so that doesn't help much :/
Mine lays these little things. Slowly getting bigger though! Her name is Blanche by the way haha from The Golden Girls.
