Hi, here I am again xD. I thought Lets try my luck by making a new thread. I have a little french copper black maran chick that's now a little over 4 weeks and while I thought it was a roo I now think it might be a little pullet. The comb hasn't grown at all and the wattles are really small, the only thing is his/her tail. Well there isn't rlly a tail. I hope you guys will share your guesses with me and lets see who can guess the gender!

We got Black and Blue Copper Marans last year - straight run. We ended up with 3M3F. The females all had little to less feathering on the legs as compared to the males. based on that alone, I'd guess male. Based on the comb and wattles (some growth and color) at 4 weeks, I'll guess male. But, pretty young still, so nothing for sure yet.

Ty for your reply! Do you have any photos? I keep hoping for a pullet 😁

They were approx 6 weeks old here. These are the back Copper Marans: 2 males, 2 females. Pretty sure you can tell which is which! Note heavier feathering on the males legs.

They are rlly cute, yes I can tell wich is wich😂 only big difference I see tho are the tails. Like my chick has almost no tail. Is he Just slow or could it be some sort of deforming?

My guess is you have a little pullet! Here are pics of my cockerels at exactly four weeks to show the difference in comb size- the good news/bad news about Marans is they show comb pretty early!

Pretty sure pullet- the very small and yellow comb at five weeks is why from my POV. Definitely a 'hold' though- would like to see more tail and complete overall feathering at this age! Fingers crossed you've got a pullet!
