Gender identity crisis

I bought this "hen" when it was 2 months old. It is now 3.5 months old. Some of its features seem "roosterish" to me (leg / thigh muscle, pointed neck hackles and quite well developed wattle etc). My big rooster shows no interest in trying to mate with it. It does not crow (i assume that it because the big fella will put it in its place) but then it does not show what i would expect in terms of rooster tail feathers.

If anyone can offer their views as to what gender they think this bird is, i would be very grateful. Many thanks in advance.

I think that I can see the beginning of a spur peeping out of the inside edge of his left shank, right above his left prop toe.

Going on that alone my vote is for a cockerel. However this particular chicken has muscle and bone structure that can only mean a nice pot of Coq au vin.

Do you need a recommendation for a good Burgandy?

Well spotted! I should have mentioned in my post that i had seen those also. I am about to build a chicken tractor so i may consider letting him be king of the castle there. I'll see how it goes. Many thanks!

Many thanks to all for your kind words of welcome. As you can probably infer - I am new to the world of keeping chickens. It's strangely addictive! I have included a few more photos - one of which (the first photo) i have tried to capture his / her pointed neck feathers. I will be very interested to read what people think! Thanks once again.

Looks to be a well developed female.. Maybe she just naturally has a large comb.

Anyways, welcome!!

Hi all,
I think the bird in question must have read your posts - he certainly proved he is indeed a rooster this evening!
