Daughter talked me into getting 2 chocolate runners 3 months ago while picking up feed at Tractor Supply. I’ve only had Pekin ducks for the past 4yrs so I don’t know much about other breeds. Is there a distinguished way of telling males and females apart with the runners?

Pretty much the same as with all breeds. Girls quack and boys sound like raspy smokers or frogs. I don't see a drake tail but that doesn't mean one isn't coming. They are beautiful no matter what. I have a chocolate drake who's the cutest little thing ever.

I've really enjoyed mine. I have been working on them for showing.

There is no sure way to do it before they mature to the point of quacking vs. rasp-quacking (which usually shows up before drakes get their curlies) unless you know how to safely vent-sex.

A marginal way of telling is by the bill color. You may see some green in the bill of young drakes. If one has noticeably more green in the bill than brown, chances are it is a drake.
