My husband and I bought 3 chicks yesterday, if I post pictures is there any way for you to tell what gender they are?

In another 4-6 weeks it will be possible. Unless they are silkies.
The only method I can think of is the wing sexing method. It worked for me.
Check their wings. If there's two different lengths of feathers, (Primaries and secondaries) it is a hen. If there is only one length, it is a cockerel. I've read that this method isn't as accurate as others, but I knew from the start one of my lakenvelders was a cockerel.
Feather sexing only works on certain breeds and strains bred for the trait. If it worked in all cases hatcheries would not need vent sexers or sex linked breeds.Thank you. I just checked and it looks like they are all hens![]()

Did you get sexed pullets or straight run?
Vent sexing and feather sexing are both done at hatch, and feather sexing is only valid if done within the first couple of days. If you mean that pullets generally feather out faster than cockerels, that is generally true. Thought I currently have 2 one month Easter Egger cockerels that have proven to be an exception. They were supposed to be pullets and are as feathered out as the pullets, yet I am sure I won't be getting any eggs from them.thing with vent sexing is its done at a day old the wing and tail sexing is done at two weeks !! so it may not work for Every breed but tell me which it doesn't..?
