gender of my duck

we just got a new duck from a friend and we don't know if it's a male or female or what breed it is. it's an adult and it looks like a female but sounds like a male.

The lack of information makes this one a puzzler. If you provide more information on the color and physical charcateristics I/others will be able to help you

o sorry it's brown like a female mallard duck and the same size of my male rouen duck

It could be a female rouen, or a male rouen who hasn't molted into his adult colors yet? Just a couple of possibilities.

he's a year old so i don't really know

Does it have any curled feathers on its tail?

If it's a year old it's probably a female rouen. They look just like female mallards only they are bigger.

it doesn't have a curled feather but when something gets close to it it quacks like a male. a low deep quacking noise like a male but this duck isn't a rouen duck
