Gender of rescued duck

Just went back and seen he’s over a year old. It probably fell out. It should come back, but even if it doesn’t there’s nothing wrong with him.

I have to disagree with you on there is nothing wrong with him. He is locked up at night by himself because of coyotes. This morning he was not alone when we let him out. He had an egg in there with him.

I have one of those too! I bought a female and now she identifies with a male, she even went and got a tail feather that curls!! :gig

How many days have you had it? Is this your only duck? I very interested to see what happens

Maybe we should have our ducks talk. Only have had her a few days and only duck. She finally has just gotten into her pool. She ran from water when we first got her so I don't know what that is about. The duck seems to have some issues. She seems to be a happy duck though.

WOW. That is really something. That quack is for sure what a drake sounds like. . . but eggs don't lie :gig

I wish we were more familiar with duck sounds. We were inside and suddenly heard a lot of loud quacking and other sounds. Sounded like a duck was getting ready to get eaten. Got out there and the chickens were just standing there looking at this duck making a racket. Nothing else around and chickens were not upset at all so not sure what that was about. She was pretty quiet the rest of the day though. Even when she would get out of the water and do the tail wag thing.

Funny. Congrats. It's a girl!

Probably wasn't well kept so she didn't know what to do, or whatever is new ducks are very leery of at first.
Was she kept by herself or with other ducks?
If by herself she could have just cried (quacked) so much to cause her voice issue.

From what I was told she was in a penned in area with a pool that was filthy and a tote to sleep in. The tote and area outside the pool could be covered up by two doormats. Her belly was covered with crud and her mouth had black stuff caked to the side of it. And she has been alone for at least a year.

Awe. Poor thing.
I forget, do you have other ducks? Or plan on getting a friend or three if not. <----see what I did there? (Duck math). :gig
