So I've seen a lot of questions about barred rock gender and I'm pretty sure I have some pretty girls but just thought I'd see if anyone can verify for me ! Thanks!
Larger chick is looking like a rooster with that much comb at apparent age (what about 6 weeks?)
The other 2 are too young to tell.
Hatchery quality BR's are not sexable at an early age. The tricks used for sexing only work within carefully controlled lines, and then within that particular line as the leg wash, head dot size, etc., vary between lines with genders.
Thanks! We've been debating on Betty since we got her (we've had her about a month) because of the comb, but then she's darker than some of the pictures I've seen of the roosters. I read somewhere they can take on traits of roosters when they think they're the boss of a bigger flock (we have 12). Either way, she's (he) is still my favorite !
