This is definitely a cockerel, yes? I’m just getting the feel to tell the difference. I’m confused on the tops, I read that a lot of them have more than one row, it’s pink and they pink up earlier. He is single row but pink with the development under the chin. He’s sort of mean and I think I hear mini crows already but not sure. Approx 8/9 weeks. Bantam.

The rows you're talking about might be the different comb times. Often with pea combed breeds like Easter Eggers, a triple rowed comb indicates cockerel. In your case with what I assume is a Bantam Cochin, the breed and your bird has a single comb, hence the different rows will never appear and that strategy can't be used to determine gender. On your chick, comb and wattle size and reddening is the best strategy. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your question!
