General housing questions on a new coop design

I just put in a poop board and it is 8-12 inch from the top of the roost. I am going to lower the roost closer because I have one Americana who likes to lay "where ever" she is. This includes the roost and the egg doesn't survive the drop. I am hoping this helps.

great thanks all. I will work on this weekend and post some photos. I was raised with chickens on the farm but I thought it was not done correct. I wanted to make sure these are taken care of correctly and I can teach my daughter as we go.
