However, the wheaten you are speaking of does not appear to be the same color (wheaten) as that found in Cubalayas, for example.

I'm afraid I didn't know what a Cubalaya was. I looked for a pic & yes they're the same wheaten

Wheaten is an allele at the e-locus. There can be lots of other genes involved in colours. RIR, Light Sussex, Wheaten Marans, Salmon Faverolles, Buff Orpingtons are all wheaten birds. A wheaten Marans, for instance, is the basic wheaten colour hen without extra, non mutant, plumage genes.​
