Hello from MI. My buff orp hen went broody beginning of June so my friend gave me her chicken’s fertile eggs for her to sit on. 4 hatched on 6/29 so they are 6 weeks old now. Question is about their coloring and feathers. Her Roos are Austrolorps (black) and hens are all Isa Browns. All 4 of the chicks are white?? They do have some black spots but not many. I know they are not feathered out yet but what’s up with the white?!

The white is dominate white from the isa moms. They only have one copy of the gene so that allows some black to show. Two copies they would be completely white.
Dominate white covers black but doesn't cover gold/ buff/ etc. That's why the isa moms only show white where their feathers would of been black if they didn't carry dominate white.
The dads black basically made the chicks black then the moms white covered it.

So I’m still confused, mainly because of the genetics, will they stay white then?

They will stay white with black specks.
No need to be confused. If you want to understand start with where your confusion starts and when can go through it till it makes sense.

Thanks, I guess I thought they would look more like the Isa Browns with black spots, didn’t know about the dominant white. I appreciate the info.
