Hey guys,
I've got two opal legbar roosters and one opal legbar hen. I have a dozen cream crested legbar hatching eggs coming in the mail. What I'm curious about is if I cross one of the opal legbar roosters over the cream crested pullets I hatch out is it going to result in split chicks?
Per Candace's website, she crosses opal PULLETS back to cream crested roosters to better the genetics in her flock, but USPS took so long delivering my eggs last year that it greatly diminished my hatch rate. I'd like to breed some splits out and eventually boost the number of opal pullets I have to begin working on my stock.
I guess my question is since the opal and cream are so close in genetics, is there a difference in the chicks crossing opal roo x cream pullet v.s. cream roo x opal pullet?
Thanks!
