Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knows the color genetics of spangled Orloffs?

Are they eWh, mh, mo ?

In most pictures of roosters they seem to have a black breast so I’m guessing they don’t have Co or Db but I’ve also seen a pic or two where they might have had a red breast.

There is a thread discussing Spangling that suggests Orloffs are Wheaten or wild type with mottling, I would think Mh also. I’ve had a small flock for a few years but never got too involved as other breeds consume my time and research. I do love the breed though!

X2
Wheaten based, mahogany, mottling. I’m not sure what causes the spangling and black breast at the same time, though.

I've never had black breasts pop up in my Spangled Orloffs.

I’ve been looking online and it seems like many pics have a black breast:

but every once in a while I see one with a red breasts. Could this be a result of crosses with the “mahogany” orloff variety?:
