Genotype Questions

Quote:
Both Silver quill and Malay gray are phenotypes made up by the combination of different genes.

Silver Quill is e+/e+ S/S Db/Db Pg/Pg
Mealay Gray ER/ER S/S Db/Db lacking Pg/Pg

Yeah, I'd say mealy. Redquill hens are more orange colored, kind of like golden Campines. Interesting to kind of think of that as a Mealy, I've had numerous over the years similarly colored but always just referred to them as brown reds. I had a mealy gray cock similar to the first bantam cock by Fred. P. Jeffrey that was the result of a solid black cock (though they could have red leakage) over a silver duckwing hen. In American gamefowl of course those colors amount to little, but that would be the variety of them. I raised two brothers, one which was almost identical to the bantam cock and the other which was more of a Birchen color though I believe he had more of a gold tint than silver giving him a almost Brassy look.

ETA: The photo to clarify the bird mentioned, not my bird.

She is a Demon and hates everything chicken, duck, Turkey, cat it don't matter.
I thought this Mealy and the Sheldon Roundhead I have was never going pass each other without getting into it.

I agree colors amount to little in American Gamefowl.
