German New Hampshire

Thanks John for posting my pictures!! The rooster by himself is the cross from J-whip or XW poultry, half Germain half Reece line. The pullets are the same but the rooster with the pullets is Germain. About 23 days ago I put 11 eggs in the incubator from these pullets. Six eggs developed and that is what hatched. Nice chicks good and strong, maybe a little small since they came from the pullets. They do have good color. These pullets are just a little over 6 months old.

They look like a good flock of NH's.

Yeah I like them too they sorta look like identical twins to some I have here for some odd reason there Scott. LOL

My girls are laying fairly well here too for the hot heat of the summertime. They are laying right along beside and about egg for egg as my pro reds and sexlink types of course they are a year newer in age than the layers are too but for BIG ol gals they are doing good in this hot humid weather. All my other "H" types think they are on furlough too and decided this was a good time to strip down to their skivvies and molt out. Maybe they will perform this winter now that they don't have the excuse of a late molt to hinder them. We will see.

Scott...you got a head start on us with the F2 generation of the XW NH's

You'll need to coax Farmer John into posting some chick photos...I would bet they are indeed smaller since they're from pullet eggs...hopefully they will play catch up in not time at all. We won't be hatching any F2's most likely until late Fall or winter here in AZ.
I saw some nice tail tents on some of your pullets...could not tell if any had the much sought after black ticking on hackles??

Yes saw some decent tails too on them Cindy and I have quite a few of mine that have the neck markings some more than others, some with exaggerated almost columbian striped hackles this is a good thing too me, I'd rather too much than none like most of my GNH didn't have. One can go down easier than up within most anything, breeding is definitely one area where that rule applies, LOL

I have the same thing as far as the neck markings. One or maybe two have none. I will not hatch anymore until March but I was thinking that I was glad I went ahead and did this breeding with the Germain male. That way I should be able to determine if I want to use him in the spring or not. I am really surprised at the size of the tail tents on them girls. I thought they were going to be smaller for sure. Thanks for your commits Cindy. I really like these New Hamps and am really glad I got them.

2 days ago I bought 3 New Hampshires from a BYC member, local to me. She is putting her focus on breeding this breed. The mother was from Frank Reese and the father a show rooster.
We are hoping that they are all 3 pullets, the combs are light pink in color and the previous owner believes they are probably pullets. They are probably about 8-9 weeks old now.
