German New Hampshire

They are getting there. The males this time are way ahead of last year in terms of growth. I'm going to show a 6mo male in a couple weeks. Last year they were not anywhere close to being filled out like these are. They need more development. But they are not going to embarrass me.

I am new to all this chicken stuff but have learned a ton on this site thanks for all the info... loved the look of these GNH birds the first time I saw them... we decided to hatch our eggs (me and my 2.5 year old daughter) and got eggs from Luanne/Cpartist... and they hatched today! 2 of the GNH hatched waiting on the others... sure are cute buggers. When can I tell if I have hens or roos? Fun to be a chicken owner! The others here are BCM and Olive Egger. Thanks Luanne!

Great looking New Hampshires Walt!!! Sure is a difference between mine and yours. It never ceases to amaze me how much a chicken of the same bred can look so much different.

Hillbillyred you are going to enjoy this bred I am sure.

Ashncarson I have the same breeding you have. Yours look really nice. They will be great chickens.

I have the same thing as far as the neck markings. One or maybe two have none. I will not hatch anymore until March but I was thinking that I was glad I went ahead and did this breeding with the Germain male. That way I should be able to determine if I want to use him in the spring or not. I am really surprised at the size of the tail tents on them girls. I thought they were going to be smaller for sure. Thanks for your commits Cindy. I really like these New Hamps and am really glad I got them.

Scott and Jeff,

From my late Feb hatch of XW eggs, there's some pullets with tents and decent hackle markings...overall size is nice with a few slightly smaller...most laying and some have not started yet...interesting...when I speak of these those though they are amongst 3 owners in a few hour radius...so some variability could be possible from different husbandry methods etc. These birds have wonderful temperaments on the whole. What size of eggs have you guys gotten with these despite being pullets?
