German Shepherd Thread!

Pics
I have a German shepherd! Her name is Gracie! She is 8 years old and a real sweetheart! Her favorite things to do are chase rabbits, deer, coyotes, foxes, mice, coons and pretty much everything that crosses the property. And yes that includes skunks… she loves playing fetch and whining to be pet. She LOVES people but a lot of people are scared of her. Multiple deliverie people have sat in the driveway and honked until one of us came out to get the package. 😂 I don’t blame them I’m sure they’ve met a lot of bad dogs it’s just funny because she just wants to play. She is scared of all my birds but she tolerates them. View attachment 4093191She is a very good poultry protector and a great dog!View attachment 4093192View attachment 4093193
What a sweet face she has!

My chickens run over my dog. They love to forage through his fur probably thinking bugs might be living in there. He draws the line when they start climbing on top of him.

That's awesome! I'm hoping to be able to train my dogs well enough that I can have them in the run with me, or rather... Ideally*, I'd like to be able to free range, but anyhow, awesome pics!

Rio grew up with ducks so it’s easier to train them from pups that they are off limits. He’s also a very easy going sort of temperament. He did chase the ducks a few times when he was small but, I can’t really blame him. It’s pretty irresistible to a puppy, lol. Both of my dogs are aloof to the birds although my Doberman thinks chicks are nuggets, only once they have reached an adult size does he ignore them.

We have family dinners with my dad & siblings every other Sunday. My brother & I alternate hosting and today was my turn. All the kids wanted to play 'hide-&-seek tag' so I told them to "Get out, hide & don't let me catch you!" Bruno looked at me for a minute then came & snuck behind the curtain like he was playing too 😅 He always lays under this window if I'm on this side of the house, but this was the first time he placed himself behind the curtain like this - felt too coincidental 🤣

I have two German shepherds!

She's my old lady, 11 according to her rabies certificate (what?! That can't be right! She stopped aging at 8, I'm sure of it!) She's slowing down a little bit, she's not really up for hiking more than a mile and a half, two miles. She's a labrador soul in a gsd body, never met a stranger in her life.

Sven was a pandemic puppy. We got him just before his first birthday from a rescue in Tennessee. He really is such a good dog, especially considering his complete lack of early socialization. That said, the first few weeks were  rough. It took my mom (who comes over at least three times a week) almost two weeks of carrying cheese in her pocket for him to finally stop barking at her and accept her as part of the family. He still spends Thanksgiving in his crate in a closed room (though tbf that's mostly because we have family members with children who don't listen). He's very much a velcro dog.
