Those types of chick feeders I screw to a 5 gallon bucket lid. Makes them more stable. Also helps catch the feed they bill out.

That's a very good idea. Thank you for it.

I used the chick feeder because it was the only container I had available. When I closed up the coop and made sure the electric fence was on at dusk she'd knocked over the water but the chick feeder was still upright. No guarantees of it's status by morning though.

She's safe out there in the wire cage inside the electric fence, but she's not happy about it.

I take out feed at night. Broodies just end up throwing it everywhere anyhow.

Water usually gets knocked all over the place so I use a bungee to try and stabilize it, but still have to check on it every time I'm out.

She's OK this morning, but she was absolutely frantic at dusk last night.

I let her out of the broody breaker last night about an hour before sunset. She went to roost instead of the nest last night and came out into the run this morning so, hopefully, she's been properly broken.

And she's doing it again.



I was going to rearrange the pen anyway in order to get the Ideal Dozen into the "See, don't touch" process so I'll have to move the Splits so that I can use the dog crate as a broody-breaker again.

We are scheduling a couple of work days with extra hands to get the Chicken Palace finished.
