I heard guineas are being used in areas where the risk of getting tick borne diseases is very high and they have been having great success reducing their numbers.

Sorry, i forgot to mention, guineas are out of the question. and @ dobieslady1, the tick is practically in his eye, so i am not going to try to hold him still and put dish soap near his eye. I was just wondering if Flea and tick shampoo would work, and if its safe for chickens???

I have read of people using flea and tick shampoo or frontline spray.Also read they use the frontline flea/tick drops. Someone used DE on their cats,so maybe stick some on the tick. I would want to try a drop of whatever would kill the tick then do a long term thing.

I have a tick twister which I have used on the dogs so far. I read to dab the tick with rubbing alcohol so it will loosen.Again with it being by the eye I would opt for a drop of poison right on the tick.

I had a few chickens get them on the eyelid. Ours are real low-key (faverolles) and allow me to pull them off with a tweezer.
