Update.
First I tried out a carrier on Popo to see just how hard it would be. Other than some offended dignity on his part it was easy and simple.
Second, when I called the lady again and told her the plan for getting the emu home I found out why no one has gotten the emu before now. I was thinking the bird was at least some what sociable. It isn't. It is in a huge horse pasture and will have to be herded into a make shift chute and into a trailer to be captured and the owner is terrified of the bird and will not be anywhere near for the loading process. I decided to pass on getting her.
I did luck out on finding someone that has a one year old that they think is female. I'm considering seeing about it.
