Getting a male Cochin chick, how do I raise it properly so he doesn’t get aggressive?

“Some of my roosters are raised to work around kids. They are often raised in small mixed sex groups where they are trained to come when called. My handling is generally limited to touching their sides with back of my hand and having them perch on my hand / arm / shoulder. They are also habituated to be gently picked up by body with legs dangling. I also effort to move slowly and deliberately to avoid scaring them.”

And that’s all how you train them from chicks to be comfortable with handling, correct?
Do Im curious if they ever challenge you when you are around their hens, or walking around their field? If so, how do you show you’re in charge, and they don’t control you?

I handle mine somewhat because when I take them to a show I want them to be used to some handling to make it easier for the judges. The birds don't freak out as much when the judges take them out of their cages to look at them.

I'm not sure your question has really been answered. But Cochins are gentle and don't usually become aggressive. I have a 4 year old Cochin and I couldn't ask for a more gentle giant. I handled him some when he was little and he is still easy to handle. I don't think you need to do anything special to keep him gentle. It's just the nature of the breed to be easy going. ;)
