“Some of my roosters are raised to work around kids. They are often raised in small mixed sex groups where they are trained to come when called. My handling is generally limited to touching their sides with back of my hand and having them perch on my hand / arm / shoulder. They are also habituated to be gently picked up by body with legs dangling. I also effort to move slowly and deliberately to avoid scaring them.”
And that’s all how you train them from chicks to be comfortable with handling, correct?
Do Im curious if they ever challenge you when you are around their hens, or walking around their field? If so, how do you show you’re in charge, and they don’t control you?
