Getting Chicks to Roost--any tips??

may I ask why you say you have to move them onto the roost?

The ones that aren’t roosting have been trying to sleep in top of the nesting boxes in a pile, and I don’t want them pooping there all night.

Close them off at night or put a poop board across the top of them.

I'm glad to hear others talking about this. My 7 week old chicks had started roosting on things in the brooder, and now in the coop they sleep in a big pile. The first two nights they slept out on the coop's enclosed (and secure) porch and that seemed like an invitation to disaster so I'm shutting them in the coop at night now. Does anybody think that a low light will help them?

A light may help them find their way inside if it's dark, but past that it should be off so they can get restful sleep.
