Getting Darker Comb

My hen is 6 1/2. For the last few years, she's been a somewhat labored breather, but good weight. She seems to be dropping weight, and her comb is getting like a dark purple color. She seems more unsteady on her feet. It may have been developing for 2-3 years. Anyone have any information to offer?

I would guess that she has either a heart condition or impaired lung function. I think that the best that you can do for her is to keep her comfortable and non stressed.

Put your ear to her side and listen for "clicking," if you hear it, it's a bad heart valve.

I''ve listened to her but for respiratory issues. I'll have to listen again for heart sounds, probably this weekend because I'll be back home then.
