Getting....Discouraged...:\

The wait is soooo hard but I just think your chickens REALLY want you to appreciate that first egg.

She started laying at 18 weeks. But even same breeds can lay at different times! The signs I got from my White Rock was squatting, bad mood, comb turning red and getting bigger. One day I found her in the nest box and later on I checked on her and there was an egg! Don't worry, she'll be laying soon!

Thanks! I hope so!

I have learned it is smarter just to make some free range nest boxes and put them about the yard to tempt them into hiding them where I know they are

x2!!
And even with all my "randomly placed" nest boxes, I found an egg in the middle of a round hay bale, in the hay ring today. (I only found it because the hen was pitching a fit because on of my goats was trying to eat there, so I knew what she was up too)

It seems they all lay when they're ready, not when they're suppose to. I guess they're not reading the same materials as us.

I have 24 hens, and I have gotten up to 15 eggs in one day, so I figure at least 15 are laying. I know most of which ones have started, and some don't seem even close. They're all the exact same age, 22 weeks. They eat the same, range the same, everything is the same. Just like kids, I guess some develop faster than others, and there's always the late bloomers. Just remember, they WILL start laying! lol! And once they do, you can run out 3 dozen times a day(or more) to see how many eggs are there, who's on a nest, are there any more.... lol! Hang in there, they'll be laying before you know it!

give them crushed egg shells till you find the oyster shell...

mine were hiding them in secret nests...till I am finally locking them in the coop, now they are all in the nests..

I found 6 eggs one day in a secret nest! No wonder there were none in the coop!

Get on the egg hunt soon if you don't find any!!
