I'm getting 3 ducks tomorrow. I am only able to get them at night so I have to put them in their new house in the dark. I'm worried about them being really scared.
I will be home the next couple days with them after that. Any suggestions to make help their move
.

Make sure they have plenty of bedding that they can customize (wood shavings, straw, etc).

Try to avoid them for awhile to let them get accustomed to their new home. Take notes of the owners setup, and try do some similar things that they're used too. Like, using the same time of bedding, and feed. Give them an accessible swimming pool also, if it is not to cold. ;)

Best of luck. :D

The ducks seem to be getting on fine. It has been warm here for November. But Im trying to get set up for winter. I am putting in a small pond tomorrow. Does anyone know how to use these utility de-icers? I read the instructions and they say you can't use an extension cord. But who has an outlet out by a pond? If I was that close to electricity I wouldn't have a freezing problem. I guess I can't just plug the thing in and drop in the pond. I have to ground it out? Getting too complicated. Maybe I'll stick with heated buckets and the pond will just have to be frozen when it gets that cold. I set up a stock tank with a ramp too but they don't want anything to do with that. I really don't like winter.

Hope the new duck are doing well.

How cold is it during winter? I'm in UK and it just about gets into minus degrees c. Occasionally their pond has ice on the top but they don't seem to mind once I break it. The water then doesn't usually freeze again during the day. If your coop and run is fairly sheltered and it doesn't get seriously cold, you should be ok without any gadgets. Just make sure the ducks have shelter from the wind.

Here in Alberta, Canada we get cold and temp are up and down daily...I use rubber livestock bowls that are larger for drinking and bathing..Easy to tip over and knock all ice out. Provide straw or shaving to lay on.windbreak is a must...
X2. Rubber livestock bowls work great!
