I'm getting ready to set some of our chickens eggs. But have a question.

I want to collect about 2 dozen before I put them in our incubator. I read somewhere, many years ago, that you need to elevate the eggs in a carton from one side to the other, once a day. Is this essential???

thanks for any info.

I just set them in an egg carton with the pointy side up. After 6 days of collecting them the fertility will drop dramatically though. I collect them throughout the week and then put all of them in on Saturdays. (Incase they need help hatching, I'll be home) I have a normal incubator and a hatching incubator though.

They also say not to wash the eggs or anything. Ill rinse them off anyway, especially here lately since it's so rainy and the eggs have been muddy. I have a 100% hatch rate still.
